Charters

  • The Sea Donkey is a 2021 Hewescraft, Alaskan 250 outfitted with twin Suzuki 200hp outboards, Raymarine electronics, doppler radar and safety equipment exceeding USCG requirements.

  • The captain carries a USCG 25GRT Master Captains certification.  

  • We have a full height, walk in head (bathroom) with flushing toilet!

  • Cabin is dry, comfortable, cool in the summer, AND HEATED!  However we still recommend dressing for the weather; raincoat, hat and sunglasses are always a good idea. 

  • All tackle and Bait is provided by Chumbucket Charters.  If you have a favorite rod or would like to bring your own tackle please notify us in advance, (no more than 1 customer private rod per client)

General Information

  • Cabin is dry, comfortable, cool in the summer, AND HEATED!  However we still recommend dressing for the weather; raincoat, hat and sunglasses are always a good idea. 

  • All tackle is provided by Chumbucket Charters.  If you have a favorite rod or would like to bring your own tackle please notify us in advance, (no more than 1 customer private rod per client)

  • We will have a large cooler with water, ice and gatorade. Clients may bring coolers but nothing larger than a standard lunchbox size.

  • We have a fairly well stocked first aid kit as well as a good selection of over the counter drugs for pain, indigestion, motion sickness, etc.  If you are prone to motion sickness we recommend taking a motion sickness drug (like dramamine) BEFORE you get on the boat and only according to the manufacturers recommendations.  DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN RECOMMENDED!  We've seen far too many people turn green because they took too much.

  • If your trip is on Vermont state waters you will need to purchase a Vermont fishing license.  For all saltwater trips fishing licenses are covered under the boats license.


Additional Details

  • 25% deposit required upon scheduling, 

  • All trips are weather dependent and may be subject to last minute cancellations to ensure the safety of all on board.   

  • Our captain and crew will use all of their experience and knowledge to ensure a great trip but there is no guarantee of successful catch or catch quantity.  The ocean is fickle, conditions and circumstances outside of our control can and will affect the success of fishing trips. 

  • Trips canceled due to weather will be credited towards future dates.  

  • Clients may cancel or reschedule a trip up to 72 hours in advance without penalty, cancellations less than 72 hours from scheduled date may forfeit deposit.  

  • A reasonable quantity of alcohol is allowed on the boat. Possession of illegal drugs and narcotics, (including marajuana, THC, CBD, in any form including but not limited to vapes, gummies, and edibles) of any sort are strictly forbidden on the boat, while on the water you will be under United States Coast Guard (federal) jurisdiction crimes committed at sea are covered by maritime law regardless of which state you depart from. 

  • The safety of all passengers is the captain's number one priority, all guests are required to follow the rules of the boat as well as all state, maritime and federal laws while on board.  If at any time before departure or while on board any guests become despondent, unruly, belligerent, or difficult the charter may be abruptly ended and return to shore without notice at the captain's discretion. No refund will be given in these circumstances.

  • Unless otherwise arranged any pelagic fish (including but not limited to tunas) caught on the boat are the sole property of Chumbucket Charters and any profits from the sale of fish shall be withheld by the crew.  In most circumstances recreational sized fish will be filleted and shared with clients.  Should a particularly large and/or profitable fish be sold we may reward the client with credit towards future reservations.

  • All trips maximum of 4 people (3 is ideal) unless special arrangements are made in advance.  Children over 6 years old are welcome on inshore trips, if a minor is joining the charter party please let us know in advance so we can ensure there are appropriately sized life jackets on board for everyone.
